My eclectic background fuels my passion for fostering intercultural understanding. Growing up in a multi-cultural family in Kansas, I navigated cultural bridges from a young age. Experiencing both isolation and acceptance based on culture shaped my understanding of identity and belonging. My love for cultural exploration deepened in high school, leading me to major in Communication Studies with a focus on Cultural and Organizational Communications. This fueled a lifelong journey of learning languages (Spanish, French, Japanese) and dance forms (Afro-Caribbean, Afro-Cuban, Afro-Brazilian, West African) that broadened my global perspective.
My career has spanned a wide range of industries including Public Relations, Communications, High-Tech, Healthcare, Arts & Entertainment, Non-Profit, and Higher Education. My unique experiences have allowed me to develop strong intercultural communication skills and the ability to navigate varied perspectives and build bridges. My time at Nintendo provided valuable insights into Japanese culture, further enriching my understanding for the need for effective intercultural communication in a globalized world.
Beyond my professional role, I'm a passionate supporter of lifelong learning. I immerse myself in the rich tapestry of global history, seeking to understand the lessons of the past and apply them to the challenges of today. I'm particularly drawn to the stories of visionary leaders who have shaped the course of civilization. Music, especially the eclectic rhythms and melodies of world music, stirs my soul and connects me to a global community.
